GLB 3060 Global Change and Environmental Sustainability

This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the complex interplay between global environmental change and the pursuit of sustainability. The course will explore various drivers of global change particularly climate change and their interconnected impacts on natural and human systems. Emphasis will be placed on examining the scientific, societal, economic, and political dimensions of environmental sustainability, and the challenges and opportunities associated with achieving a sustainable future.


Throughout the course, students will critically evaluate the implications of global change on ecosystems, natural resources, and human well-being, and explore the role of science, technology, policy, and collective action in addressing these critical environmental issues. Case studies from around the world will be utilized to illustrate the diverse environmental challenges and the strategies employed to promote sustainability in different contexts.
